Note: late pickup was due employee illness. I as given a discount to compensate. The price quoted was correct including the above discount. All employees were excellent including packers, Kerri and kelvin, and deliverer, Pablo. When the packers arrived, they packed everything and labeled all of the boxes. They were particularity careful with my fragile items. I was amassed at quickly they finished. The deliverer was also very efficient. Everything was delivered in excellent condition. I would highly recommend modern movers.

We had some large heavy items that needed moved to our new house. It was a local move from one side of Fort Myers to the other. The contents also included a piano. Movers were prompt and professional. They were efficient and strong so I didn't worry that they would drop something or injure themselves while moving the items.
The office staff was really helpful in working out the details and giving us a price right away on the phone. We were priced by the approximate weight and the number of men needed to move the items. The cost was $150 per hour for 3 hours minimum. They also brought boxes and packed our flat screen TV and large 7ft mirror.
I would highly recommend them for your moving needs.

Our complaints with the  pick up and delivery went relatively smooth. But we did have some damages. And that is what this review pertains to. Three weeks after  we got settled and unpacked we took pictures and made notes of several items that were damaged. We mailed this to Modern Movers with no response from them, we began making telephone calls and after several weeks received a check for one-fifth of the cost to repair items that Modern Movers packed. To be more specific in the damages that Modern Movers had packed was scratches on Steinway piano, new clothes dryer bent/damage on top, wood antique bedroom side table scratched, and glass shelf broken.

Our Modern Movers, John and Eric were so awesome.  They were on time, good listeners, professional and very nice. We were under a great deal of stress because we were moving some of our brother's belongings to an assisted living facility in Ormond Beach, Fl.  approximately 5 hours from where the furniture was picked up in Ft. Myers. Everything was packed so well that I was not concerned about how things were going to arrive.  They packed everything in a few hours and then we were off to Ormond and everything was unloaded and carefully placed where I wanted it.  Many extra requests were made by me when I was not sure where I wanted something.  It was a long day and the apartment in the assisted living facility was a distance from where the truck was able to park.  So John and Eric had a lot of hauling to do without a single grimace or complaint.  Hard workers with a great work ethic.  We would definitely recommend them to anyone who asks. There is no better feeling than being able to trust a company with precious belongings and it started when I made the phone to their office when a wonderful and very caring woman named Jami assured me everything would work out well and she was right. THANK YOU MODERN MOVERS FOR A NON-STRESSED EXPERIENCE.

I keep seeing how they have made changes and things are better now but no!! We had damaged furniture they refused to fix because their guys swear they did do it. Well duh? Why wouldn't they deny it. We filed a claim as asked and 4 weeks later we are still calling without any return calls because the guy that deals with this is in the middle of something at the time of our call. Fat chance they have made changes for the better..more like they have made changes that make them better at avoiding paying claims for damage done by their movers! Don't use this company!! I'll be back to update this as this claim progresses..lets see if they can make this right or not??

I agree with stefanie, unprofessional ,complaining, mover . The workers were great and worked hard. When furniture arrived , manager of apt bldg in Chgo, saw the truck, but then they left. The mover complained the whole time. Had no tools, he was slovenly, and the boxes were smashed and some hummels were smashed .my hutch was used for an eating space and their stains in the drawers and soo much more!!I reported to the company and said I had photos of all the damages, they said no need.after a long wait I received a check for $12.00 dollars . I am sending it back I feel they need it more than I do..
whatever you do do not use modern movers, they lie , they are not professional. But it takes a catastrophe to teach lessons..

Modern Movers..be wary of all the good things you read or are told by them or anyone else. One of the worst experiences I have ever had! I have never used a moving company before (and never will again) and thought it would be less stressful to hire a reputable company to move my things over 1500 miles. On the contrary, I would have been way better off renting a UHaul and doing it myself! They did not inform me of the "delivery stretch" (not getting your belongings for 2 wks!) until two days before they were to show up and load the truck. I never received any calls in regards to my stuff showing up at my new place, I had to keep making all the calls to them, even when they changed the delivery date at the last minute! Then the constant complaining of the delivery driver when he finally showed was totally irritating and his helper was useless. I ended up carrying most of my stuff into my new place myself just so they would leave sooner! The helper even commented on me tipping..really?? Sooo unprofessional! Then to top it all off, several of my boxes were smashed, even ones that had 'fragile' written all over them! It was obvious they did not show any appreciation for my belongings. So, needless to say, several of my dinner plates, serving platter & bowl were all broken. Along with a floor lamp and crystal margarita glass. Then they refused my claim! Even with me forgoing the lamp and glass just so they replaced the dishes (huge matching set that is discontinued). I also provided them pictures of the condition of the boxes, not even an apology came from them..nothing! I feel completely ripped off! So think twice before hiring a company for your big move. You'll save a lot of money and heartache with the do-it-yourself option! And you won't have to wait 2 wks for all your stuff!

I had a very bad experience with Modern Movers.  Initially they moved our stuff into storage and that part was excellent - I was very impressed.  Some years later, after always paying my storage fees, I decided to relocate back to the UK and that was when things went bad.  They took ages to answer emails, were very late in obtaining quotations and dragged their feet even more when I wanted to get a date for shipping out.  I had to threaten legal action at one point to get a response to a routine email.  In the end it took me over four months from asking for a quote to getting my stuff shipped. Absolutely ridiculous customer service.  Avoid at all costs.

The 4 movers that moved our entire home from one side of Naples (moving out of a unit with stairs) to our new home were outstanding. They went out of their way to insure that all the furniture was placed exactly where we wanted it before they left. They completed an inventory to insure all furniture, artwork, etc. that was packed at the original home arrived at its new destination in the same condition as when it was packed. They were prompt arriving to start the job, prepared with boxes and shrink wrap, pads, mats, and the entire home was moved in less than a day. I recommend these folks to anyone. Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding! Thank you!

They moved us from Florida to Connecticut. The team at the Florida end were very good. Pleasant, efficient and helpfuf. This was not the case at the northern end. They never checked the route before hand and the truck could not make it into our condo complex. They had to rent a truck from Home Depot which was smaller. Thus they had to unload, reload and unload again . No surprise that the badly damaged three items..one an antique. Again no surprise that the three men all denied knowing how it happened. I also found clothing and bed linens shoved in a drawer ..not where they normally belong. How did that happen.The really astounding part is they charged us for the rental of the truck. Seems to us, it was their error but we had to pay.
If you use them, make sure to take out add'l insurance and request they check the truck route.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6943

Horrible service! Was originally charged to move a grand piano in a separate truck, with a separate charge from that of the household goods. Then they crammed my household goods (11,000 lbs) into an almost full semi. They didn't even have room for their dollies to fit inside, it was so full. When my stuff arrived in the semi, they opened the back door and the grand piano was in there with a lot of spare room in the back. None of my shipment was moved forward, so there should not have been room to spare, never mind the piano at the very back of the truck. Not to mention I was charged AGAIN for the weight/transportation of the piano! Needless to say, A LOT of my items/boxes were missing. Most were things left to me by my parents and grandparents, which can never be replaced. Several high ticket items were also missing. Of the boxes/items that were left, a good 40% were damaged or broken. The driver (who was new, and not a part of the original group in FL) called the office several times to complain, and they hung up on him. This happened in front of me, while he had his phone on speaker! No one from the original packing (FL) was at the delivery end, as is required. Needless to say, the driver quit that day. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone! I would not even give it 1 star, if it were not required!!

This was the third time I have used Modern Movers over the 16 years I have lived in the area. They have been consistently good to the point that I did not even look into other options. I trust them! If they can take the care that they always have of my grandmother's china cabinet, moving it like it was their own, that is all I need to know. From the initial estimate, getting boxes from the box man, the movers and the follow up, they were prompt, polite, right on on the estimate, answered all questions, put up with my move anxiety..what more could I ask for. I highly recommend them.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $986

Do not use them. I am still assessing the damage. they packed and moved me out of Naples. The people packing nearly set my house on fire by putting paper on my stove which started smoking. What I didn't know at the time was they were wrapping a Waterford lamp that is burnt and cracked on top. The bed screws were improperly attached to the beds and they are custom beds and are lost. Waterford sconces were at the bottom of lamps and I stressed to be careful with them. One of my tilt top tables had the little screw removed and now we cannot find the piece to put it together. I have moved the same furniture for 30 years about 10 times and I have never had these issues. We did have someone unload us from the storage unit here as they were going to charge us $2800 to store us for one month and move us back again. I also tried to change the arrival date but they would not accommodate me. Also, their quote was low..to low I now realize. The actual cost went up substantially.It ended up being nearly the same as the company I was going to use. They should not be in business. I will update this as I continue to unpack. I felt bullied by the office staff.

I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH _ AVOID THESE PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS. They gave me an estimate of $1,400 for 3 guys for 10 hours. They were here 7 1/2 hours out of which I caught them loafing for one full hour and another hour they spent at lunch so they only worked for 5 1/2 but still charged me for the full 10 hours. On top of that they broke approximately $200.00 worth of my belongings and stole 6 cans of soft drink out of my refrigerator! They also left all of my kitchen goods over at the old house and I had to make 6 trips by car to get everything, working until 1:30 a.m.! I am now disputing the charge and I am sure we will wind up in court. I will keep you posted!

Moving is always stressful especially when going from one city to another

They sent a professional over to give me an estimate that was fair.

The team that picked up was the same team that delivered 150 miles away.

They were very quick, careful and courteous.

Communication before and after was fantastic!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3500

Avoid this company at all costs! I hired Modern Movers to move my furniture and boxed goods. They were rough handling the boxes and took items that I told them to leave. But the worst part was their refusal to take responsibility for damage caused by their defective equipment. My goods had to stay in their truck for 4 nights due to the fact that they were too busy to deliver on the day I wanted. They also charged me for storage during that time. This was a local move, and during those 4 nights we had rain and their truck leaked. When my goods were delivered many of the boxes were soaking wet and had collapsed. I immediately called their office and advised them of this fact. When I unpacked the wet boxes I found that many items were broken. I took photos of each broken item as well as the collapsed boxes and filed a claim for $2,500. They sent me a check for $36 stating that since I didn't purchase extra insurance I wasn't entitled to more. Needless to say I wasn't satisfied as the damage was caused by their failure to maintain their equipment, not by insufficient packing. After several months of corresponding back and forth I decided to take them to small claims court. The court process was fairly easy and did not involve me hiring a lawyer. When we got to court I explained the situation to the judge, who seemed to agree with me. The owner of the company tried to say that I used the wrong boxes and that's why they collapsed. The judge stated that water and cardboard do not mix. Then the owner referred to the original contract that I signed. In the small print at the end it states that they have no responsibility for damages caused by almost anything!!! I'm sure this is standard wording of any moving contract, but I believe the company should have a moral obligation to reimburse me since the damage was obviously due to their negligence in not maintaining their equipment. Since I signed the contract, which I did not have a choice on if I wanted my goods moved, the judge ruled against me.

I have been putting writing this off for a year. We had them move us four hours north of Cape Coral, Fl. The 3 gentlemen that packed us up also drove to our new residency to unpack us. Within two days I realized I was missing a container but thought I may have overlooked it so kept unpacking boxes. Takes a while to unpack and put your things away in a new house as we had lived in Cape Coral for 21 years. Slowly I was realizing that I couldn’t find some items, so would write them down in case I had over looked them. Well I hadn’t over looked them----they were gone!!!! The items missing I would not have packed them in the same box so I’m missing 3-4 boxes. I realize that I will probable not remember everything that doesn’t show up, but I have made a list and a couple of items were personal family items. My recommendation if you use this company is to number every box, that way when you get to your new location you’ll know if one is missing, I wish someone would have told me that. Beware, don’t trust them.
